Lebanese Parliament
Overview
Beginning in 1994 the Center provided
assistance to the National Assembly of Lebanon (known as
Parliament) with projects primarily focused on enhancing the
legislative and administrative capacities of the
institution. Activities were also implemented to expand
citizen participation in the public policy debate and to
support the development of Parliament as a democratic
institution. Specific activities to enhance the legislative
capabilities of Parliament included policy dialogue trips,
development of legal databases and reference guides, and
creation of customized information systems. In addition, the
administrative work of Parliament was reorganized and
restructured through the introduction of the appropriate
information technology systems and tools and through the
specialized training of staff.
