Media's Role in Shaping Public Policy  was published as a summary of two seminars, one in November 2002 and another in February 2003, conducted at the Library of the Lebanese Parliament. Funded by USAID, the seminars were organized by SUNY/CLD, the Lebanese Parliament, and the Forum for Parliamentary Dialogue to increase awareness of the importance of citizen participation in the legislative process and to facilitate communication amongst Parliament, the media, and the public.  The publication includes an overview of the major issues addressed in the two seminars, transcripts of speeches, as well as a summary of participant recommendations for improving citizen participation in the legislative process, and is a useful reference for identifying concerns from both the civil society and legislative perspectives.
